Introducing JHA Newly Appointed Chairman & Vice Chairman
JHA hosted its annual dinner gathering on Tuesday, 11 December 2019 at the Sultan Hotels & Resorts, inviting JHA members, hotel professional association, JHA partner and media friends. The evening was highlighted by an introduction to the newly appointed JHA Chairman, Vice Chairman and Executive Committees for 2 years period from 2020 until 2022.
Replacing Richard S. Mau who has led the Association from 2019, Sjefke Jansen – General Manager of Hotel Indonesia Kempinski Jakarta was selected by the Association as Chairman, together with I Nyoman Sarya, VP of Operations Singgasana Hotels & Resorts, who is selected as Vice Chairman.
The new Committee is also supported by existing Executive Members, Andrew Abram – General Manager of Mandarin Oriental Jakarta, Carlos Monterde – Fairmont Hotel Jakarta, Novi Samodro – General Manager The Dharmawangsa and Yana Nuraga – General Manager Century Park Hotel Jakarta.
With support from our Members, “I will continue with the great work of my predecessor and be involved in all matters, pertaining to Government Regulations, Charity, Education and Sustainability. I will encourage active and engaging communication with all members of the JHA, in order to develop new ideas and to further enhance the reputation of the association. It will be my goal to establish the JHA as a respected and well recognized authority for its members in Jakarta and beyond” said Sjefke Jansen.

"I started working in the industry as a humble kitchen trainee in Germany, in 1983. My passion for the profession saw me leave Europe soon and work in Australia as Assistant Restaurant Manager in Sydney, in 1989.My career then took me even further overseas, to Cape Town, Saudi Arabia, Lebanon and Singapore where I worked as Food & Beverage Manager, overseeing 19 restaurants at the iconic Raffles Hotel. Before taking up my first General Manager position at The Oberoi, Mauritius in 2006, I was instrumental in the opening of One&Only Reethi Rah in The Maldives. Prior to my move to Jakarta, I worked as General Manager for Belmond Grand Hotel Europe in St Petersburg, Russia. My new position at Hotel Indonesia Kempinski Jakarta is not my first appointment in Asia, and so I'm quite thrilled to be back in this region."
I Nyoman Sarya - JHA Vice Chairman 2020 - 2022
"I have spent 30 years in hotel industry, I started my career as Cashier, then grow in Finance division at various position : Cost Controller, Purchasing Manager, Chief Accountant, Asst FC, Financial Controller & Director of Finance. I have also experience in overseeing HR dept. Then since 2007, I moved to operation started as Resident Manger, Hotel Manager, General Manager and since 2014 as VP Operation in management company overseeing 5 properties. My passion for hospitality industries have influenced me to actively participate as Executive Committee in JHA for the past 6 years and recently I enjoyed myself as speaker at prominent tourism forums and seminars to share my experience in hotel industry to my fellow hotelier.
It is a pleasure for me be appointed as JHA Vice Chairman and I am determined to bring JHA as reputable hotel association that can be the partner for government and tourism & hotel 's association for the development of Jakarta tourism and hotel industry."
