Act of Humanity for Palu & Donggala from JHA
In the devastating aftermath at Palu and Donggala in Central Sulawesi, as well as the surrounding areas that were severely affected by a massive 8.5 Earthquake and 3 meter Tsunami on Friday Sept 28, Jakarta Hotels Association (JHA) announced that the association will donate Rp. 150,000,000 for disaster and relief efforts. JHA encouraged its members to participate in the fund raising program over the last few weeks.
On November 7th, 2018 during JHA Annual Gathering, Mr. Richard S. Mau - Chairman of JHA shared that along with raising fund raising, hotel members also donated bed sheets, blankets, pillows and other necessities from member hotels that will be useful for those who lost so much due to this devastating tragedy.
“I would like to thank all of our members for their kind contributions which collectively and individually, have been able to make a difference for those in need. “Truly appreciated!” said Mr. Mau during the opening of JHA’s Annual Gathering.
The true scope of the devastation caused by these twin disasters are still being assessed but the numbers are staggering and the tragedy is heartbreaking. The latest official death toll is over 2000, 3000 missing and more than 300,000 people are homeless with up to 2 million in urgent need of assistance, including many young children.
