JHA Cares for Children with Cancer
To welcome year 2018, Jakarta Hotels Association (JHA) Executive Committees presented a donation from the JHA New Year Charity project on March 28th, 2018 to selected non-governmental organizations for their individual pledge to make a significant change to the face of children’s cancer treatment and rehabilitation. The three selected organization were Yayasan Anyo Indonesia (YAI), Yayasan Kasih Anak Kanker Indonesia (YKAKI), and Rumah Harapan Indonesia.
The donation was presented to Yayasan Anyo Indonesia (YAI) provides a temporary home for children with cancer, as well as for the children with other diseases that are noninfectious. Rumah Anyo location is near and within walking distance to Dharmais Cancer Hospital. 'rumah anyo' can accommodate 18 patients together with a companion each. They come from various regions in Indonesia as outpatients or inpatients at a referral hospital in Jakarta.
Established in November 1st, 2006, Yayasan Kasih Anak Kanker (YKAKI) offers hospice facilities free of charge to underprivileged children suffering from cancer and their parents. Because these children receive early diagnosis and treatment, their recovery rate is encouragingly high. The Foundation provides in-house tutoring for the children so that their education can be continued while they receive treatment. Approximately 60 families benefit from this service each year.
Rumah Harapan Indonesia also provides a hospice for children at the age of 0 to 17 year of age, diagnosed with cancer and have to pursue their treatment in Jakarta. Along with the parent, Rumah Harapan Indah that established in 2014 also provides other facilities to support the children education and their happiness.
“This year we presented the donation to 3 worthy foundations that committed themselves to the care of children with cancer. Charity is one of the association commitment to show our gratitude and appreciation to our community”, said Richard S. Mau Chairman JHA.
