Gedung Kesenian Jakarta or Jakarta Performing Art Theatre

is a classic building constructed in 1884, in response to the request of Sir Thomas Stamford Raffles, British Governor General of Java at the time. The building has been restored and today it has a stage of 24 x 17.5 meters and can accommodate up to 500 persons. GKJ is often used for traditional and modern performances, the latest being the piano recital.
